ANCIENT ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES
THE ART OF ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture needles dating from more than 4000 years ago have been found in China. The first needles were stone; later, bronze, gold, or silver were used, and today needles are usually made of steel. Initially, needles were used only to prick boils and ulcers. Acupuncture was developed in response to the theory that there are special “meridian points” on the body connected to the internal organs and that “vital energy” flows along the meridian lines. According to this theory, diseases are caused by interrupted energy flow, and inserting and twirling needles restores normal flow.

The Ancient "Nine Needles", Ancient "Nine Needles" is a general term for widely used metallic medical instruments in China dating back to two thousand years ago. The kit contains nine kinds of needle of which detailed illustrations are found in the classical work of medicine Huang Di Nei Jing ( Canon of Medicine ). Respectively applied in acupuncture, massage and in dealing with various surgical diseases, they are of marked efficacy.
Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, although China's medical instruments have undergone great improvement and development on the basis of "Nine Needles" of which the originals have long been extinct, the principal instruments and needling methods remain popular among the folk.
Our products are duplicated after the restored medical needles unearthed from the Han Dynasty Relics in Mancheng county and by consulting sources such as Huang Di Nei Jing and other relevant classical works. Thus "Nine Needles" can serve as exhibits of history of Chinese medicine and culture as well as references for medical colleges and clinical applications.
