This book is divided into four parts according to the utlization of the essential oils, i.e., Fragrances and Flavours, Medicinals, Flowers and Fruits, and for other uses. For each of the selected more than 200 entries, the Latin name of the species is listed on the top as the title, under which the morphology, distribution and uses are described, then, the details of the chemical constituents of this essential oil are shown with an accompanied standard chromatograph.

The unique feature of this book can be seen from the "instruction" part. To start with, the state of art of the scientific research of the indigenus essential oil resources in China is revealed for the first time which would prove as a very useful information for both the academic and industrial communities abroad, then the modern methodology for essential oil compostion study is discussed in detail, in which some efficient and practical isolation methods of the "head space" of fresh flowers developed in China including the authors' laboratories are also described...
