HOW DOES THE Caribbean Sun RB TREAT ACNE?
Sunlight was long known to improve acne, and this was thought to be due to anti-bacterial and other effects of the ultraviolet spectrum.
It was found that some of the visible violet light, present in sunlight, in the range of 405-420nm activates a porphyrin in Propion-bacterium acnes which damages and kills the bacteria by releasing singlet oxygen.
Application of the light for 3 consecutive days has been shown to reduce the bacteria in the pores by 99.9%. The accompanying application of red light, which has revitalizing properties, seems to improve response rates. Overall improvements of on average 76% for 80% of patients occurs over 3 months, with only 10% of users that see no improvement.
DIRECTIONS
In order to be effective against acne, one should sit very close (within 12 inches) to the Caribbean Sun RB. The treatment is safe on skin, although eye protection is necessary due to the close proximity of the lightbox to the user. The recommended exposure is 10 minutes per day, and while the bacteria are killed fairly quickly, it will take a few weeks before you see results and your skin clears and heals. Please consult your doctor to see if light therapy is recommended for your particular condition.

What LED Light Therapy Can Do For Your Skin?
light therapy (for skin) is mainly used to treat aging and acne. It is very common to see that red light therapy is associated with anti-aging and blue light therapy to fight acne.
Red Light Therapy Rejuvenates Your Skin
In the anti-aging process, what is important is the collagen production, and red light therapy stimulates the collagen production. Collagen is responsible for the elasticity and firmness of your skin, resulting in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The collagen is also the protein that repair damaged skin cells. You look younger and have a healthier skin.
Blue Light Therapy Kills Acne
The blue light therapy kills the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. This bacteria is one of the cause of acne, and is sensitive to light in a certain range (405 to 420 nm). The bacteria absorbs the light and the light kills the bacteria. Acne vanishes as a result. Because red light is more the “healing light”, it is also used for acne : it reduces the inflammation caused by acne, reduces scarring and sebum and oil production. You look better, your skin is clear.
